Product Details
Inspired by the early 1950s Fender Broadcaster, the Lollar Special T pickups are our most popular Tele set—and for good reason. Designed for players who want more warmth and punch from their Tele, the Special T delivers focused mids, a touch of natural compression, and a smooth top end that tames excess brightness without losing clarity or character.
Versatile and expressive, they’re a great fit for a wide range of styles—from blues and rock to country and indie. The Special T offers a slightly hotter, darker tone while still capturing the unmistakable feel and nuance of the classic Fullerton-era Fender sound.

Pre-wired Kit for Teles
Upgrading your Tele has never been easier. Our Lollar Pre-Wired Kits are hand-built in our shop to Jason Lollar’s exact specifications, ensuring premium performance and tone right out of the box.
Whether you’re installing new pickups and want high-quality electronics to match, or upgrading your stock components for improved reliability and response, these kits make it simple. We’ve done most of the work for you—all that’s left is to drop the kit into your guitar and solder in your pickups.

Additional Ground Wire Option for Series Operation
For Tele pickups, we offer an additional ground wire option that lets you wire your pickups for series/parallel switching
with a 4-way switch—a popular mod among players looking for greater tonal versatility than the standard 3-way setup provides.

Frequently Asked Questions
What values of potentiometers and capacitors do you recommend for Tele pickups?
We typically recommend 250k pots for both volume and tone controls, paired with a .047μF capacitor—the most common and traditional setup for Tele® pickups.
That said, there’s no one-size-fits-all rule. You can learn more about how different pot and cap values affect tone in our two-part series: Part I - Pots, Part II - Caps.
How far from my strings should I set my Tele pickups?
A good starting point is 1/8" between the pickups and the strings when the strings are fretted at the last fret.
From there, adjust to taste—raise the pickups for more output and stronger fundamentals, or lower them for increased harmonics and a more open tone.
For a detailed walkthrough, watch our video on Adjusting Pickup Height.
Can I mix and match any of your Tele neck and bridge pickups?
Yes. You can mix and match our Tele® pickups to create your ideal setup. Keep in mind that different models vary in tone and output, so consider balance when pairing them.
A popular combination is our Vintage T Neck with the Special T bridge—a classic match for players who want both clarity and punch.
Do you offer matched sets or RWRP pickups for Teles?
Yes. Our two-pickup Tele® sets feature a bridge pickup wound RWRP (reverse wind, reverse polarity) relative to the neck. This design makes them hum-cancelling and in-phase in the middle position.
What is your recommendation for a Nashville Tele configuration?
Our Vintage T pickups pair well with the Blonde middle Strat® or pickups in a Nashville Tele setup. We also offer a Nashville Tele Pre-Wired Kit for easy installation.
If you need a matched three-pickup set, please contact our Customer Service team.
What is your recommendation for a humbucker/single coil Tele configuration?
Our most popular HS Tele® set pairs the Low Wind Imperial neck with the Special T bridge , and we offer a matching HS Tele Pre-Wired Kit for seamless installation.
For Telecaster Custom models, the Low Wind Regal WRHB Neck neck with the Special T bridge are an excellent match.
